WHITE PLAINS, NY -- “Catfishing” has nothing to do with going down to the river with your fishing pole. It has everything to do with your safety when you use the Internet. The important thing to know is, a “catfish” is an internet predator who is posing as someone other than themselves.  A “catfish” is intentionally deceptive when creating a profile on social media like on Facebook or on many popular dating sites. This deception can be very intricate and usually involves the use of fake photos, fake biographies and sometimes erecting a fake supporting network as well.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Jazz Revue and Patterson Productions are holding a special event on Mother’s Day at Recologie. Brunch will be available.

On Sunday May 10th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., guests will be invited to provide their special talents, music, words, thoughts, and ideas and share them with their mothers. There will be an Open Mic for Moms.

$15.00 suggested donation in support of  Oxfam / America Aid for Nepal Earthquake.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Mark Twain will be on hand this Sunday at the New Rochelle Public Library to help an anticipated audience of several hundred guests experience 1840’s St. Petersburg, Missouri, where The Adventures of Tom Sawyer took place. The classic novel is the title of New Rochelle’s 2015 Big Read, which will be officially launched at Sunday’s event. Throughout the afternoon, 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm, children will have an opportunity to play a great array of 19th century games, including jacks, marbles, pick-up-sticks, sack races, and others, and create a miniature raft and picket fence.

The event will include patriotic ceremonies, music, great food and some amazing military aircraft which will land in the park where members of the public will have the chance to tour the aircraft up close and meet the crews.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College, Dean of Arts and Science Lecture Series will host a film screening of “The Thanhouser Studio and the Birth of American Cinema,” a documentary about the birth of American cinema at the turn of the century told through the story of the rise and fall of one of America’s pioneering early motion picture studios.

The event will be on Thursday, April 30, at 3:30 p.m. in the Iona College - Christopher J. Murphy Auditorium.
