NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Kathleen Gill has been appointed to the position of Chief of Staff for Policy and Government Affairs/Corporation Counsel for the City of New Rochelle. As Corporation Counsel, she succeeds Mark Blanchard, who will enter private practice effective August 17. She will commence September 28.

WHITE PLAINS, NY --County Executive Robert P. Astorino today announced that the Child Welfare Division of Westchester County’s Department of Social Services (DSS) has received national reaccreditation, verifying that it provides the highest quality services to children and families. Westchester remains the only public social service agency in New York State to receive this distinction – a testament to the level of service provided in the county.

WHITE PLAINS, NY --Westchester County Parks will re-open sections of Muscoot Farm and Lasdon Park and Arboretum in Somers, Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River, Mountain Lakes Park in North Salem and Hilltop Hanover Farm in Yorktown Heights for bow hunting deer in the autumn of 2015. John E. Hand Bald Mountain Park in Yorktown will continue to be opened as a pilot program with limited hunter access only. Participants will be selected by testing and lottery.

Evelyn Lombardi, Former St. Gabe's Teacher, Dies at 63

NEW YORK, NY --Evelyn Lombardi of West Nyack passed away peacefully on July 23, 2015 at the Joe Raso Hospice Residence in New City, NY, surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born on September 27, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY to Ralph and Mary Lombardi. Evelyn is survived by her spouse of 45 years, Jeanette Matthews, her brother, The Rev. Joseph Lombardi, S.J., her sister and brother-in-law JoAnne and Richard Stone, and many cousins. She will be dearly missed by scores of former students and those she touched through her many community activities.

WHITE PLAINS, NY --The Westchester County Department of Public Works and Transportation (WCDPW&T) will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, July 29, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., prior to setting the Student MetroCard farefor the 2015-2016 school year. The public hearing will be held at the Westchester County Centerin White Plains.

The WCDPW&T office, at 100 East First St., Mount Vernon, will accept written comments through July 31.

WHITE PLAINS, NY --The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced the latest class to be inducted in the MAAC Honor Roll. The honorees will be enshrined in “The MAAC Experience” exhibit at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Oct. 17.

Former men's basketball head coach Pat Kennedy and women's basketball standout Toni Horvath-Killeen will be the Gaels' representatives in this year's MAAC Honor Roll class. Each honoree will be profiled in the game program for the 2016 MAAC Basketball Championships, and will also be featured in a video display at “The MAAC Experience.”
