More Lead Found in New Rochelle Elementary School Drinking Water

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- More than twenty percent of drinking fountains and sinks at the George M. Davis Jr Elementary School have tested positive for elevated levels of lead. The test results came more than three weeks after two drinking fountains indicated elevated levels of lead. The elevated lead levels primarily impacted kindergarten and first grade students.

Albert Leonard Middle School students Jason Newman and Ethan Alexander led their team to victory during the Championship of the George Washington Scholastic Chess Tournament held recently in White Plains, NY.

Alexander placed second overall with three points and Newman placed fourth and earned three points.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- James P. Nardozzi, 82, a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, New York, died on April 21, 2016. Jim was a devoted and compassionate husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. His life was guided by his faith. A Navy veteran and graduate of Iona College, Jim owned a retail paint business for twenty-five years and served as a benevolent landlord in New Rochelle. Sweet and silly, Jim approached life with playfulness and humor despite living with chronic neurological pain for over 30 years.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle (CNR) will mark its 109th Commencement on Tuesday, May ­­­24, 2016 at The Beacon Theatre, awarding approximately 1,000 baccalaureate and master’s degrees on students from its four Schools and conferring honorary degrees on Robin Roberts, television broadcaster and co-anchor of ABC’s Good Morning America, and Elizabeth LeVaca, Chair of the Board of Trustees at The College of New Rochelle. Roberts will give the Commencement address.
