Debose Leads Women's Volleyball to Win Over Maritime

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Led by a 20 kill performance by freshmen Imani Debose (Carson, CA), the College of New Rochelle Women's Volleyball returned to its winning ways with a 3-1 over Maritime College Thursday night in the Wellness Center.  The non-conference win improves CNR's record to 3-6 while the Privateers fall to 5-6 on the season.

Monroe College Men’s Soccer beats Ulster CC, 17-0

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --The Monroe College men's soccer team continued its winning streak on Tuesday with a 17-0 victory over Ulster Community College in a Region XV game played in Stone Ridge, New York. The Mustangs are now 8-0 on the season and have outscored their opponents 46-2.

Felipe Hideki led the offensive onslaught with a season-best four goals. Dauda Kenneh scored three; Mohamed Ndiaye, Ignacio Goya, and Luiz Soupinski each had a pair; and Jorge Paez, Lucas Vaz, Jamal Manley West, and Marvin De Abreu found the back of the net once.

Harvard Scores late to take down Iona

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College men’s soccer team dropped its fifth straight game as it fell to Harvard on Saturday afternoon, 2-1.  The Crimson scored twice in the final 10 minutes to steal a victory away from the Gaels in their final non-conference game of the season.

Sophomore Daniel Huertas put the Gaels up 1-0 early in the first half with his third goal of the season.  Senior Teddy Forson fed a long pass forward over the Harvard backline, leading to a chip-in scoring chance that the leading Maroon & Gold goal-scorer netted.

Iona Falls to Quinnipiac in Straight Sets

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College volleyball team fell in straight sets at Quinnipiac Saturday afternoon, 3-0.  The Bobcats controlled the first two sets (25-18, 25-20) and come from behind in the third (25-15) to hand the Gaels their second loss in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play.

Sophomore Claire Archibald had a team-high seven kills.  Freshman Tess Connolly, sophomore Taylor Bannister, and senior Kassandra Darnaby eac had four kills.  Sophomore Jessica Paolucci led the Gaels with 14 digs.  Connolly and Archibald had eight and six digs, respectively.

Monroe Football off to best start in Program History after 38-0 Shutout of Valley Forge Military Academy

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College football team is 4-0 to start the season for the first time in program history after a 38-0 shutout of Valley Forge Military Academy on Saturday. The Mustangs had no shortage of superb performances on both the offensive and defensive ends.

On the very first play from scrimmage for Monroe, Ryan Fulse scampered 59 yards for a touchdown. The sophomore reached 100 yards rushing in the game, making this the fourth-straight game that he has eclipsed the century mark on the ground.

Iona Volleyball Falls in Straight Sets at Fairfield

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College volleyball program fell at Fairfield in straight sets, 3-0.  The Stags led the entirety of the first set, sealing it with a 25-17 score.  The Gaels forced five ties and two lead changes in the second set, but fell short of coming back, 25-19.  The match came to a close in the third with the Stags controlling the set, 25-18.

Sophomore Claire Archibald had a team-high eight kills and 28 attack chances.  Freshman Mia Bonsignore recorded six kills, and upperclassmen Kassandra Darnaby and Karly White each had four kills.

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Just in time for the beginning of team try outs, games and practices, three highly regarded experts from White Plains Hospital will present a valuable talk on sports safety for kids.  The informational session is open to the public and will provide parents, coaches, and caregivers with the tools they need to prevent injuries and accidents among school-aged kids, as well as guidance on what to do when injuries do occur.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A new era began at The College of New Rochelle (CNR) when it welcomed its first coeducational freshman class to the School of Arts & Sciences. The students were greeted on campus during Freshman Convocation on Sept. 6. Having accepted only women since its founding 112 years ago, dozens of men have been registered for the 2016-17 school year. With the transition, CNR has attracted students from all over the nation. So far, over fifty men have enrolled in the College.

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- In a quiet ceremony on Sunday afternoon, County Executive Robert P. Astorino delivered gratitude and a virtual hug, on behalf of the county, to Westchester’s Gold Star Mothers –women whose children have been killed in the line of military duty. The program, opened by a procession of the Westchester County Emerald Society Pipes and Drums, took place along the Fallen Heroes Memorial Walkway at Kensico Dam Plaza.
