Stony Brook Outlasts Iona, 3-2

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College men’s soccer program dropped its first of two straight matches against America East Conference opponents on Wednesday evening.  The Stony Brook Seawolves defeated the Maroon & Gold 3-2 despite sophomore Aristotle Seferlis and junior Oscar Gonzalez each recording their first goals of the season.

Stony Brook outshot the Gaels 14-11 in the match, making the most if its 11 scoring chances in the second half.  Seven of Iona’s shots were on goal.

CNR Edged by Skidmore, Falls to Union

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle Womens Volleyball team came out on fire in the opening match of the Union Invitational Tournament against Skidmore College Friday night.  CNR ran out to a 2-0 set lead (25-19 and 25-22) but couldn't close out a tight third set, losing 25-23.  The Thoroughbreds rallied to win the fourth and fifth sets to take the match 3-2.

Sophomore Tamara Beckford (Bronx, NY) was key in the opening frame with five of her 10 kills in the match. In the second game, freshmen Cristal Liciaga (San Juan, PR) led the way with three kills.

Lehman Sweeps Womens Tennis

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle Womens Tennis team hosted Lehman College Friday afternoon in non-conference action at Beckwith Pointe.  After the last match finished it would be the Lighting who won by a 9-0 margin.  CNR falls to 0-2 while Lehman improves to 3-1.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle Mens Soccer team remained unbeaten after Wednesday night's 4-1 victory over City College in non-conference action at City Field.  The Blue Angels have won five straight while CCNY drops to 2-3.

Freshmen Angel Gonzalez (Fort Lauderdale, FL) scored his first collegiate goal in the 3rd minute of play off a cross from freshmen Jovanni Garcia (Garden Grove, CA) to give CNR the quick lead.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona men’s water polo team competed in a triple-header at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday. The three-match competition saw the Gaels (5-5) beat Penn State Behrend 19-4, fall to Cal Lutheran 13-9, and defeat the host Connecticut College Camels 16-12.

Game 1:

The Maroon and Gold defeated Penn State Behrend 19-4 in the morning contest. 14 different Gaels tallied at least one goal in the contest in which never trailed the Behrend Lions.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe Athletic Complex was a beehive of activity this weekend as the volleyball team hosted the annual Monroe College Invitational. The five-team, two-day tournament saw the Mustangs play three times, earning a pair of three-set wins over Potomac State College and Northern Virginia Community College, before losing the final match to Catawba Valley.

Men’s Soccer at 7-0 for the Season after 3-0 Win against Massasoit

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Mustangs played Massasoit Community College in Brockton, Massachusetts on Saturday, winning the match 3-0.  The team's record for the season now stands at 7-0.

Monroe sophomore Jorge Paez, one of eight returning players, scored the first goal of the game on a free kick from the top of the 18-yard box. It was Paez's fifth goal of the season.
