Thousands Crowd Main Street for 4th Annual New Rochelle Street Fair

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A threatening forecast couldn’t dampen the spirits on Main Street as thousands streamed downtown for the New Rochelle Street Fair on Sunday, September 18th. The fourth annual event boasted over 150 vendors, artists and crafters; international cuisine, and inflatable rides for children, and two entertainment stages. Fairgoers enjoyed a day full of live music and performances coordinated by the Council on the Arts as well as a Beer and Wine Garden, hosted by NR Future.

Mayor Noam Bramson and The College of New Rochelle ,VP for Enrollment Management Kevin Cavanagh cut the ribbon for the 4th Annual New Rochelle Street Fair, surrounded by sponsors and supporters.

Astorino invites Westchester residents to the 2016 Westchester Sports Hall of Fame ceremony for the induction of four honorees who have gained national prominence, and contributed to sports in Westchester. The ceremony will be held on Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.

“This is a great opportunity to recognize the unique accomplishments of these talented athletes,” said Astorino. “They have dedicated their lives to good sportsmanship and teamwork, while enriching their communities.”

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Today, Ms. Santiago and Mr. Fry and their students planted pinwheels alongside the IEY building (made by our 6th and 7th grade students), in participation of the International Pinwheels for Peace Project. Pinwheels for Peace has joined with Peace One Day, a non-profit organization, which got the United Nations to adopt the first ever annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence on September 21st - Peace Day. Over 1.5 billion people have been exposed to this important day of peace.

Trinity Elementary Welcomes Students and Families

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Trinity Elementary School held its annual Welcome Picnic on Friday for students and their families. The PTA cooked hotdogs and hamburgers as parents chatted about their summer vacations and connected with families new to New Rochelle. Students played games and danced to a DJ.

About 150 people attended the event sponsored by the PTA.

Free Fruit for Kids Program Launches at Stop & Shop

NEW YORK, NY -- It’s good to be a kid at Stop & Shop. Beginning today, Stop & Shop is launching its Free Fruit for Kids program in all of its stores. The Free Fruit for Kids program offers free fruit to kids ages 10 and under.

Parents and caregivers have to go no further than the produce department to find a healthy snack option for kids while they are shopping. With support from produce partners, the Free Fruit for Kids program focuses on providing healthy snacking for kids while parents or caregivers shop.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Dancing with Our Stars is an opportunity to raise funds to help our special needs children and typically developing peers with their social-emotional development. The funds will be used to support our ESTEAM Empowerment Program (Esteem Building, Science, Social Skills, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math). The programs are available at the following elementary schools: Barnard, Ward, Trinity and Columbus.
