Rugby Improves to 2-1 on the Season with 29-21 Win at Drew University

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College Rugby team continued its incredible inaugural season with a 29-21 win over Drew University on Thursday. The neophyte program, which has just three games under its belt, has improved to 2-1 on the season.

Monroe earned five tries on the day, with Dazzman Johnson recording a pair. Michael Yeboah, Luis Montalvo, and Nedeck Adams each scored one.  Team captain Felipe Bezares made good on two conversions.

Monroe Volleyball Goes 1-3 in Catawba Valley Tournament

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College Volleyball team posted a 1-3 record in the Catawba Valley College Tournament over the weekend. The Mustangs defeated Spartanburg Methodist College 3-0, but fell to Wallace State CC (3-0), Catawba Valley CC (3-1), and Owens CC (3-0).

The Mustangs opened play with a 3-0 loss against Wallace State. The set scores were 25-18, 25-16, and 25-13.  Carla Soufront had 21 assists, while Neysha Gonzalez led the team with 13 digs.

Tennis Koalas Capture League Title

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --Congratulations to our Varsity Tennis Team who completed an undefeated regular season, winning their 6th league title in the last 7 years! The team is again ranked #1 in the Lohud Team Girls Tennis Rankings this week.

CNR Claims Regular Season Crown with Win Over Vaughn

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --The College of New Rochelle Mens Soccer team claimed the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season title Monday night after a 5-0 shutout victory over Vaughn College.  The win gave CNR a clean sheet in conference play, ending 8-0 on the season.  Vaughn's season comes to a close with a 3-5 mark in the league.

County Executive Robert P. Astorino Congratulates Iona Prep 2016 Baseball City Champions

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino presented a proclamation yesterday to Iona Prep’s Baseball Team as the Catholic High School Athletic Association’s (CHSAA) “AA” 2016 City Champions. The team won the Bronx/Westchester Division in its regular season with a 14-4 record and an overall record of 20-6. They defeated Monsignor Farrell 5-4 at St. John’s University for the Championship win. This is the first CHSAA title for Iona Prep since 2012 and third overall. 22 of the 24 team members are from Westchester County.

Deputy County Executive Kevin Plunkett, Iona Prep President Brother Thomas R. Leto, and County Executive Robert P. Astorino met before the program held for Iona Prep’s Baseball Team, congratulating them as 2016 City Champions.

Shutout Streak Continues as CNR Downs John Jay 3-0

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- If winning six straight games wasn't impressive enough, the College of New Rochelle Womens Volleyball team has gone one step further. After its 3-0 non-conference win over John Jay College Tuesday night, CNR has now won 18 straight sets.  The Blue Angels now stand at 15-9 overall while John Jay falls to 8-11.

The Blue Angels won the first set 25-12, before narrowly taking a tough sencond set 25-22.  They would close out the match with a 25-17 win in the final set.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College Volleyball team went 3-1 at the Iowa Western Tournament over the weekend. The Mustangs picked up victories over Southeastern College, Pratt Community College, and Colby Community College, but fell to Iowa Western Community College in four sets. The tournament featured four nationally ranked programs.

Monroe opened with a 3-0 win over Southeastern College. The scores were 25-13, 25-16, and 25-10.  Carla Soufront posted a double-double, with 26 assists and 13 digs.
