Women’s Cross Country Places Sixth at Great Dane Invitational

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College Women's Cross Country team placed sixth at the Great Dane Invitational at the University at Albany on Saturday. Despite the fact that Monroe was the only junior college at the meet, Susan Ejore won her fourth race of the season, setting her fourth course record in the process. Full results can be found here.

Iona Wins Maryland Eastern Shore Collegiate Challenge

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College golf program won the Maryland Eastern Shore Collegiate Challenge Tuesday afternoon.  The Gaels finished the tournament tallying 910 strokes (+46), seven better than runner-up North Carolina Central.  Iona secured the victory shooting a 313 (+22) in the final round.

Spots two through four on the individual leaderboard were owed by the Maroon & Gold.  Sophomores Devin Delisle and Paolo Matti each tied for second with 226 (+10), and freshman Matt Mirocco came in fourth ending the tournament at +11.

Broncs Second Half Bombardment Drops MSOC, 2-1

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A dominant second half led to the Rider Broncs passing by the Iona Gaels, 2-1.  A game-winning penalty kick in the 71st minute proved to be the deciding moment as the Maroon & Gold’s record in MAAC play stands at 2-4-0.

The Broncs scored the first goal of the game exactly twelve minutes into the game.  Junior Elliott Otmani netted his third of the season in a culminating moment after the Broncs had three corner chances in the opening seven minutes.  Junior Jose Aguinaga was credited with the assist.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Fire Department hosted their annual Promotion and Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, October 19th at the Council Chambers in City Hall. Chief Louis DiMelgio and Deputy Chief Scott Bradley were joined by Mayor Noam Bramson, City Manager Chuck Strome, staff and families as they honored 32 Firefighters with the Life Saving and Unit Citation Awards.

“Today we recognized members who demonstrated meritorious acts of bravery throughout the year,” said Chief DiMelgio.

Blue Angels Down Dolphins; Win 7th Straight

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle hosted the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Womens Volleyball action Thursday night at the Wellness Center, in what has become a rivalry of Cross County foes.  Last year the Dolphins blanked CNR, but this year, CNR avenged the loss with a 3-1 victory.  The win is CNR's 7th straight and raised their record to 16-9, while CMSV falls to 10-15.

Libraries Closing for Veterans Day and Thanksgiving

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Public Library and Huguenot Children’s Library will be closed on Friday, November 11th for Veterans Day and Thursday, November 24th for Thanksgiving. Both libraries will be open Friday, November 25th.

The regular fall hours for the Main Library and the Huguenot Children’s Library are as follows:

Main Library:

Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm

Wednesdays: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Fridays and Saturdays: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Sundays: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Huguenot Children’s Library:

-- The New Rochelle Public Library and Huguenot Children’s Library will be closed on Friday

11/06 “Masterworks for Flute, Guitar, & Strings” Concert at Library 3 PM

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- “Masterworks for Flute, Guitar, & Strings” a concert performed by the Red Door Chamber Players, will be presented on Sunday, November 6, 2016, 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm, in the Ossie Davis Theater of the New Rochelle Public Library. The Red Door Chamber Players, comprised of Diana Golden (cello), Morgan Pappas (flute), Daniel Keene (guitar), and Gregory K. Williams (viola), will perform a sublime program of music composed by Niccolò Paganini, Mauro Giuliani, and Franz Schubert. A donation of $2.00 is suggested at the door.
