Soccer Improves to 7-0 in HVIAC with Win Over Webb

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Eight different Blue Angels found the back of the net as the College of New Rochelle Mens Soccer team eased past Webb Institute, 13-0,  in Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon at City Field.  CNR now stands at 7-0 in league play and 13-2 overall, while Webb falls to 0-7.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle picked up a key Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over Culinary Institute 3-0 Saturday afternoon in front of a fanatic Family Weekend crowd in the Wellness Center.  CNR now sits atop of the table at 2-0 in the league and 14-9 overall, while CIA falls to 2-2 and 5-5 overall.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle Womens Tennis team took on Pratt Institute Saturday afternoon in a crucial Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup at Beckwith Pointe.  CNR battled in several key games, but came up short each time, resulting in a 9-0 setback.  The Blue Angels fall to 1-1 in the conference and 1-8 overall.

Second Half Surge Pushes Quinnipiac Past Iona, 2-1

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College men’s soccer had a pair of shots for off the crossbar in a hard fought 2-1 loss at Mazzella Field on Wednesday afternoon.  Two second half goals by Quinnipiac proved to be the decisive moments as the Maroon & Gold fall to 1-4-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play.

The lone score for Gaels came from sophomore Killian Colombie in the 44th minute.  Junior Luis Mendoza send a grounded pass across the box and found Colombie standing on the right side who then drilled it into the left side of the net for his third score of the season.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College women’s soccer team battled its heart out battling down from a three goal deficit against Quinnipiac, but fell short of the second half comeback, 3-2.  Freshman Amber Crispin and senior Emily Hansen continued their excellent play with a pair of goals in the loss.

Men's Cross Country Takes Fifth At Nuttycombe

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College Men's Cross Country team placed fifth at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Friday morning in Madison, Wisconsin. The Gaels finished behind Northern Arizona, Stanford, BYU and Syracuse.

Senior Kieran Clements performed best for the Gaels, placing seventh with a time of 24:01.3. Junior Gilbert Kirui finished 12th (24:05.7), while junior Johannes Motschmann finished in 47th (24:34.1). Junior Liam Dee (24:46.9), senior Andrew Tario  (25:06.0) and senior Brandon Allen (25:13.8) rounded out the Iona scorers.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College men's cross country program took to the field Saturday morning at the Princeton Invitational, placing 17th in the 8K. The Gaels sent five runners to the course, with freshman Jac Hopkins leading all Gaels with a fifth place finish.

Freshman Jac Hopkins finished fifth in his first collegiate race with a time of 24:30.1. Senior Thomas McClellan (25:35.1), freshman Daniel Galvin (26:17.0), freshman Brian Warsh (26:49.6) and junior Robert Kirsty (28:23.0) rounded out the Iona competitors.

Henderson Paves Way To Princeton Invite Victory

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Senior Teghan Henderson's first place finish in the 6K paved the way to an Iona team victory at the Princeton Invitational.

Henderson finished seven seconds ahead of the next competitor, crossing the finish line in 21:11.4. The victory was Henderson's second in three races for the Maroon and Gold, as she placed first at the Brother Doyle Meet of Champions.

Iona Men's Water Polo Topped By Wagner, 6-5

After holding a 5-3 lead at halftime, the Maroon and Gold could not hold on, ultimately falling to Wagner 6-5. An early fourth quarter goal put the Gaels away for good, as they dropped their fourth straight contest. Sophomore Andres Guerra led the Gaels with two goals, while freshman Jorge Andres Torres made 13 saves in net.

Men's Soccer Dominates Canisius On Homecoming, 3-0

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --The Iona College men’s soccer program put forth its best effort of the season Saturday afternoon, sending the homecoming crowd home happy with a 3-0 shutout win against Canisius.  The Gaels got scores from sophomores Daniel Huertas and Killian Colombie along with junior Marcos Nunez.  Senior Julian Petrello made three saves in net for the Maron & Gold’s first shutout effort of the year.
