Storm Delays County Golf Courses Opening

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- The season opening of the six Westchester County owned golf courses scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, March 15, will be delayed because of the snow storm. The new opening date will be announced.  

The six courses are Mohansic in Yorktown Heights; Maple Moor in White Plains; Saxon Woods in Scarsdale; Hudson Hills in Ossining; and Dunwoodie and Sprain Lake, both in Yonkers.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- On the heels of an successful inaugural campaign for men's sports at the College of New Rochelle, the Blue Angels Athletic Department has announced the addition of Baseball for the 2017-18 season. And, on Friday, Athletic Director John "Jay" Butler announced that Tommy Cannella will be the programs first skipper.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Department of Special and Alternative Education and New Rochelle SEPTA is hosting the City School District of New Rochelle's 13th Transition Fair on Monday, March 20, at 5:30 p.m.

The event, which will be held at New Rochelle High School's House 4 Cafeteria (enter on the entrance near Braemer Avenue), is for students with Individualized Education Programs or 504 plans and parents who are interested in learning more about transitioning from school.

Registered Violent Sex Offender Who Worked in New Rochelle Busted by Feds for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor on Instagram

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- A registered violent sexual offender was charged Monday by the U.S. Attorney with persuading a 14-year-old girl to engage in sexually explicit activity, video it, and transmit it, via Instagram, to him.

David Ohnmacht, 36, of Katonah, NY was also charged with being engaged in that conduct while being someone required to register as a sexual offender.

Three Firefighters Injured Battling Destructive House Fire in North End of New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Three firefighters were injured early Tuesday afternoon, after a two-alarm fire destroyed a single-family home on Thornbury Road in the far north end of New Rochelle near the Scarsdale border.

A neighbor called 911 at about 12:45 p.m. after seeing flames shooting out of the garage at 159 Thornbury Road in New Rochelle. By the time firefighters arrived on scene, the fire was fully engaged.

"It got a pretty good jump on us," said New Rochelle Fire Chief Lou DiMeglio.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle Police are looking for a man who attempted to run over an NRPD officer early Sunday morning. The incident occurred at about 4 a.m.

New Rochelle Police have broadcast a county-wide "hotline" or BOLO alert to other police departments for a suspect identified as Joseph Cicelli (sp.?), date of birth, 5/6/96, Male/White, 5' 8", hazel eyes.

According to police the suspect is driving a 2016 4-door black Honda Civic with Connecticut Combination plates, tag AC97415.
