NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- David Diamond, Assistant Director of Special Education at New Rochelle High School, returned to work last week after an unexplained month-long absence which began in March.
Talk of the Sound has confirmed through multiple sources that his absence followed a meeting at City Hall in which school officials sought Diamond’s resignation after the latest in a series of complaints by high school employees of inappropriate behavior by Diamond involving male students.

New Rochelle Board and Budget Vote Set for Tuesday, May 16th

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- With the departure of David Lacher and Chrisanne Petrone, there are two openings on the Board of Education come this July 1.

The current board has approved a budget for the 2017-18 school year of $259,622,488, with a $5,936,852 spending increase, or 2.34 percent, over the previous year’s budget.

There will be two candidate forums:

League of Women Voters Forum on Monday, May 8 6:30 p.m. at New Rochelle Library

PTSA Forum on Tuesday May 9th at 7 p.m. at the NRHS Library.

New Rochelle High School Cheerleading Coach of the Year Out as Athletic Department Financial Fraud Investigation Expands

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Chrissy Stanionis, last year’s Journal News Coach of the Year, is out after more than two decades as one of the most successful high school cheerleading coaches in New York State. The move comes a month after investigators from the Westchester County District Attorney's Office began a series of visits to offices of the City School District of New Rochelle in City Hall and began examining Athletic Department financial records.
