PELHAM, NY -- Join us for an afternoon trip to authentic Ireland, abundant with traditional music and dance. Bronx Musician, Patty Furlong, an original member of "Cherish the Ladies," the Grammy-nominated Irish-American female super-group, will perform traditional Irish music on the button accordion, accompanied by her daughter Catriona Furlong on the piano. Once you’re tapping your toes, Catriona will lead an interactive demonstration on basic Irish step dance.  Audience members will have a chance to dance along to the music!

Sidewalk Cafe Permits for Alvin & Friends in New Rochelle Are Problematic

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The business and building operating interchangeably as “Alvin & Friends” or “West Friends Management Group, LLC” at variously “12 Memorial Highway” or “14 Memorial Highway” has been allowed by the City of New Rochelle to illegally operate an outdoor dining area for years.

Alvin & Friends was preparing to open its operations on the sidewalk tonight as Talk of the Sound arrived to make measurements and take photos.

Registered Sex Offenders Reside Two Blocks from New Rochelle Elementary School

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Residents in the West End of New Rochelle are furious after learning that two registered Sex Offenders moved into their neighborhood. The two men reside at 7 6th Street which is two blocks from Columbus Elementary School.

Trevor Bridle, 40, works at 51 Highland Avenue in New Rochelle. His last conviction, in 1997, was Attempted Sexual Abuse-1st Degree, a class E Felony. The victim was a 10 year old girl.

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- John C. Gallagher Jr. entered Courtroom 420 at the Charles L. Brient United States District Court in White Plains, NY shortly after 11 a.m. He wore a dark suit. His face taught, his, bald head and neck flushed a deep red.

Gallagher rose slowly before U.S. Magistrate Judge Paul E. Davison and stood quietly before pleading “Not Guilty” to federal corruption charges for operating a bribery and kickback scheme for years in the City School District of New Rochelle.

Payments for back taxes and tax liens may be spread over a 2 year period under the agreement.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY —- Clove Road in New Rochelle is a secondary road but an important one, connecting various parts of the City with New Rochelle High School located at 265 Clove Road. ON weekends, the road is used by people coming and going from Holy Family Church.

The section of Clove Road between Mayflower Avenue and Eastchester Road has become an increasing problem since work was done on the street by Con Edison.

Op-Ed: Improving Graduation Rates in New Rochelle High School

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- In 2016, New Rochelle High School (NRHS) announced that it raised its graduation rates from 78% in 2008 to 86% in 2016. This was an important accomplishment for NRHS, especially since Hispanic students broke the 80-percentile mark for the first time with the most recent graduating class. Hispanic students are the largest demographic at the school, and have a lower graduation rate and higher dropout rate than other students.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — According to records obtained by Talk of the Sound under a Freedom of Information Request, the City of New Rochelle initiated foreclosure proceedings of tax liens against West Friends Management Group, LLC on March 23, 2017. As of May 1, 2017, West Friends Management Group owed $115,898.56 on the the property located at 12 Memorial Highway, the home of Alvin & Friends Restaurant.
