Regents and mid-terms week at New Rochelle High School

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- This is Regents and mid-terms week at New Rochelle High School. Students may leave the school when they have completed their exams, and are arriving at times different from the standard class schedule.

This does not reflect a change in the policy that students will not be permitted off school grounds during lunch and free periods.

Student are Taking to Join the March for Our Lives in Washington D.C.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle High School student Andrew Sorota talking about the trip he and his schoolmates are taking to join the March for Our Lives in Washington D.C. In all, 40 marchers - mostly students with several teachers and parents - are taking part in the event aimed at ending gun violence. Students include many from NRHS's Model Congress, Junior State of America and Human Rights Coalition. Watch here

Math Games and Family Time Added up to a Night of Fun at Daniel Webster Magnet School's Family Math Night

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Math games and family time added up to a night of fun at Daniel Webster Magnet School's Family Math Night on March 22.

The event was for kindergarten and first-grade students.

"Students and parents played games that focused on building number sense, flexibility with numbers and big ideas about math," reports Principal Melissa Passarelli. 

Each child went home with a bag of math games.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- While their classmates had two snow days off from school recently, four intrepid science research students – Zahra Masih, Casandra Chen, Leora Segal and Maura Kelly Yuoh – braved snow, ice, and wind to participate in the 33rd Annual Upstate Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. The event is sponsored by SUNY Albany, the Academy of Applied Science and the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force.

Seven New Rochelle High School Sophomores Attended the Annual Human Rights Institute for Student Leaders Held at Iona College on March 15

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Seven New Rochelle High School sophomores attended the annual Human Rights Institute for Student Leaders held at Iona College on March 15. It was sponsored by the Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center.

The NRHS students, along with peers from 40 other high schools throughout the region, heard from speakers on human rights and took part in workshops on topics such as income inequality, rights of indigenous peoples and the "Me Too" movement, reports social studies teacher Eric Katz.
