Addy & Uno Came to Albert Leonard Middle School and William B. Ward Elementary School

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Addy & Uno, an off-Broadway musical with an anti-bullying message, came to Albert Leonard Middle School and William B. Ward Elementary School to stage special performances for the students.

Thank you Addy & Uno for the treat, and thanks to Verizon FiOS1 - Lower Hudson Valley for helping spread the word about it.

Mrs. Soto's Second-Grade Class at Trinity Elementary School Raised $254 in the Recent Pennies for Patients Campaign

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Give a hand to Mrs. Soto's second-grade class at Trinity Elementary School, which raised $254 in the recent Pennies for Patients campaign to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It was the most of any class in the school.

This year's campaign theme is "Every Hero Needs a Squad."

Congratulations to them - and to all the students who took part!

Four Exceptional New Rochelle High School Seniors were Honored by the New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Four exceptional New Rochelle High School seniors were honored by the New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence at its 20th Annual Awards Gala at The Fountainhead banquet hall on Thursday, April 19.

The students were Jonathan Saddler, Andrew Sorota, Annael Alvarez and Zahra Masih.

Several NRHS alumni and other community members were also honored. They were:

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A highlight from the PAVE Band & Orchestra Concert: The PAVE Orchestra filled the Linda E. Kelly Theatre in New Rochelle High School with the sounds of the "Capriol Suite," a work by a little-known English composer Peter Warlock, who lived 1894-1930.

Suzanne Morello, NRHS orchestra director, conducts.

Warlock set Renaissance melodies to modern harmonies, explains Marc Schneider, City School District of New Rochelle Director of Art and Music.

New Rochelle's Team Prestige Stepped Their way to Victory in a Contest in the Midwest

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Here's New Rochelle's team Prestige stepping their way to victory in a contest in the Midwest.

The step team, with members from New Rochelle High School and Albert Leonard and Isaac E. Young middle schools, traveled to Lyons Township High School in Willow Springs, Illinois, for the competition. They were one of eight teams. The others were from Illinois and Indiana.

Prestige came in first place.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle Board of Education President Rachel Relkin was recently confronted by questions about the integrity of the  “Task Force on Reducing Violence in the Lives of Children and Youth”. Concerns were raised about the committee’s ability to evaluate any failures by the district administration when the chairman was recommended by the leader of the district administration, namely, Schools Superintendent Dr. Brian Osborne.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- On Thursday, for Poem in Your Pocket Day, the English teachers at New Rochelle High School made sure students were well-versed in great writing. As part of National Poetry Month, they handed out poems by Sylvia Plath, Gwendolyn Brooks, Shel Silverstein, Langston Hughes, rupi kaur, Li-Young Lee, Judith Ortiz Cofer and others as students entered the school.

The poems were chosen to showcase poets who reflect the diversity of New Rochelle High School.
