NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The scene was surreal at the Apple event to promote its new iPad tricked out with cutting-edge features for classroom learning.

A gleaming new Apple store, overlooking the teal Chicago River. A stage set against a wall of windows. Apple CEO Tim Cook in the house.

Enter the guest speaker: New Rochelle High School teacher Anthony Stirpe, there to talk about the curriculum he designed that uses iPads in the classroom as a storytelling device.

Julia Muggia Ochs - 2018 Candidate for New Rochelle Board of Education

1. The budget was approved by the board 5-2 on April 17 (5 board members voted for it, 2 voted against it, 1 effectively abstained by not attending the meeting, 1 member resigned months prior to the vote). If you had been on the board on April 17, how would you have voted (YES or NO only; please explain why)

If I had been a member of the BOE during the current budget process, I would have voted yes on the budget.

BROOKLYN, NY — The sludge-metal sound and fury of Melvins rocked Brooklyn Friday night at Warsaw, a Polish community center that serves as a concert venue in Greenpoint.

A Melvins performance is less a concert and more a physical event, for those in front of the stage more an endurance contest as a throbbing mass of fans surge in waves towards the wall of speakers, raising willing fans up over the mosh pit towards the front of the stage where expectant security guards grabbed them and re-directed them back out into the audience.
