NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle League of Women Voters “Coffee and Conversation” on Friday, September 21st   will feature Councilman Jared Rice. The free program, open to the public, takes place from 9:30 am – 11:00 in the first floor meeting room of the New Rochelle Public Library. At this meeting, Councilman Rice will give an update on New Rochelle’s My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) initiative known as MBKNewRo.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A new series, “Music In Our Lives,” will be launched with a dazzling performance by internationally-renowned and Grammy-nominated flutist Carol Wincenc and New York Philharmonic harpist Nancy Allen on Sunday, September 23, from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm, in the Ossie Davis Theater of the New Rochelle Public Library. The series, sponsored by Songcatchers, Inc., will explore the impact of music and its meaning in our lives. The concert is free, but donations to Songcatchers will be gratefully accepted.

Four NRHS Students Named National Merit Semifinalists

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Four New Rochelle High School seniors have been named semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program, which honors top academic achievement.

Eliza Crocker, Josh Glickman, and two brothers – Adam Jones and Eddie Jones – were among approximately 16,000 students across the country named in the 64th annual competition. The semifinalists represent less than 1 percent of the high school seniors across the country.

PELHAM, NY -- Pelham Art Center is thrilled to have award winning percussionist, singer, dancer, actress, and teacher Alessandra Belloni perform for our folk arts program. Choreographer and teacher Francesca Silvano will also teach and dance. Belloni travels worldwide to perform group and solo concerts in theaters, universities, and international percussion festivals and on Sunday, 9/30 she will be here at PAC! After the performance there will be a workshop on tissue paper stained glass technique by Sylivia Vigliani.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Federation of United School Employees or FUSE will be giving away 12,000 books, valued at $125,000, at Trinity Elementary School on Saturday September 15th from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. The books are organized into age-appropriate sets from Elementary to Middle School to High School.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- AAA Northeast last week launched its 73rd annual “School’s Open - Drive Carefully” program at the New Rochelle Police Department.  The program alerts drivers to be extra careful behind the wheel as children end their summer vacation and return to school.  Sergeant Myron Joseph and Officer Carlos Valencia joined local school students to help AAA kickoff the program.

·         Vera Koppel of Ruach is to receive the Muriel Zaukas Lifetime Achievement Award.

·         Liz Aiello of SiriusXM Radio will receive Business and Professional Award.

·         Millie Ilich of Hudson Park Children’s Green House and Amy’s Greenhouse will receive the Community Outreach Award.
