New Rochelle VFW Commander Peter Parente Pleads Guilty on Contempt Charges

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Peter Parente has pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of contempt for violating a court-ordered Order of Protection. He appeared in New Rochelle City Court on December 3rd. Parente was sentenced to a 1-year conditional discharge with a two-year order of protection against the defendant in favor or the victim, according to the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.

Parente was arrested three times in six months.

Credit Recovery Abuse Report Accepted by New Rochelle Board of Education

Tonight, the Board of Education has accepted the final report from T&M Protection Resources on our use of online credit courses at New Rochelle High School. (See report below.) While the time it took this report to be finalized is longer than the board wanted, it is thorough and concise. This is the first step in rebuilding trust in an educational system that prides itself on the quality of the education we deliver.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The final report on credit recovery abuse at New Rochelle High School by T&M Protection Services dated December 3rd, 2018 included only one change from the draft report dated October 18, 2018. There was an additional exhihibit which described T&M responses to 3 questions from members of the New Rochelle Board of Education.

Huguenots Make Community Proud with Impressive Season

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Ultimately, the New Rochelle High School Huguenots did not come home from Syracuse with a state championship, but their performance throughout the season and in the hard-fought final game lifted the spirits of the New Rochelle community.

They came within one game of the Class AA state football championship, losing the final to the Aquinas Institute L'il Irish at the Carrier Dome on Saturday. The score was 21-14.

Greenhouse Gets Generous Ventilation Donation

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Amy's Greenhouse at the Henry Barnard Early Childhood Center has received a donation to upgrade its ventilation system and enhance its energy efficiency from Rough Brothers, Inc., the largest greenhouse design, engineering and manufacturing company in North America. The CEO of Wadsworth Controls, Patricia Dean, donated the environmental control system to work with the equipment being installed. 

News of the donation was made official when, during its November 13 meeting, the Board of Education approved the resolution to accept the generous gift worth $25,000.

Pep Rallies Prep Davis Students for Fundraising Fun Run

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The students at George M. Davis Jr. Elementary School are getting their spirits up for a Fun Run. The fundraising event takes place next Thursday, Dec. 6, but cheers were already ringing out this week as teachers held pep rallies to get the students' enthusiasm up for the big day.

"It's going to be exciting and fun because it's going to be a challenge," said first grader Lea Kisling after all the classes in her grade watched a video on the activity.
