Senator Klein’s Graffiti Clean-up Crew will remove graffiti tags in several hard-to-reach locations across the 34th Senate District
NEW YORK- On Wednesday, April 7th, as part of a Spring cleaning effort, Senator Jeff Klein’s (D-Bronx/Westchester) graffiti removal crew will clean graffiti on hard-to-reach overpasses, railroad bridges and buildings across the Bronx and Westchester.
The crew will target several sites including the Citgo gas station off of the Hutchinson River Parkway, Bruckner Expressway, Bronxdale Avenue, I-95 overpasses, Pelham Parkway overpass as well as the railroad bridges along Einstein Hospital and East Tremont Avenue. Klein’s crew will also clean areas in the Town of Pelham and the City of New Rochelle.
“During the past 16 years, I have made graffiti clean-up a top priority in my district,” said Klein. “My constituents and I refuse to let vandals tag our buildings and overpasses, creating time-consuming, expensive clean-up jobs for hard-working business owners and major eye-sores for drivers coming in and out of our city. By immediately cleaning these hard-to-reach places, we are sending a strong message to all vandals—we will not allow you to trash our neighborhoods.”Read more

NYS Instant E-mail Alert System
NEW YORK- State Senator and Deputy Majority Leader Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/ Westchester) announced the launch of a new alert system Monday that provides instant email notification to New York State residents when a sex offender moves into their zip code. Individuals can register for the alerts through the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services website.
Klein and Assemblyman Rory Lancman (D-Queens) fought for the technological tool and sponsored legislation, signed into law by Governor Paterson last fall, making information regarding the location of registered sex offenders more accessible and convenient for millions of New Yorkers.
“New Yorkers deserve to have the convenience and peace of mind that these email alerts bring. These emails are another valuable safety tool in helping to protect our children from the kind of unsavory individuals who are, in many cases, our neighbors,” said Senator Klein.Read more

Yesterday (10/19/2009) there was a pretty scary accident on Pelham Road, almost directly in front of Trinity School. The accident occurred about 12:30.
A neighbor who is an EMT in Mamoreneck was the first to respond, he happened to be home and lives almost in front of the accident. The city responded with 3 firetrucks, the Critical Incident Truck, and numerous police cars. A Fireman entered the vehicle while it was on its side to help out the driver.
It seems as if the SUV flipped on it's side when it struck a parked minivan.
The SUV was supported by blocks/wedges of wood to give it stability.
The driver was taken away in an ambulance, but according to a policemen on the scene she wasn't seriously injured.
You can see the damage to the minivan by the rear driver's side tire.
As always the NRPD and the NRFD responded professionally and quickly. The accident was cleared just in time for the Trinity dismissal which is a nightmare on a regular day!Read more
