WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Today, Congressman Eliot Engel toured the Children’s Village facility in Dobbs Ferry, one of four facilities in Westchester currently housing migrant children separated at the border from their parents by the Trump Administration. Engel was joined on the tour by House colleagues Nita Lowey, Gregory Meeks, Grace Meng, and Lisa Blunt Rochester.

“The Trump Administration’s cruel zero tolerance policy has ripped families apart at the border and in some cases sent children thousands of miles away to facilities like Children’s Village in Westchester. From what we saw today, the children at this facility appear to be well cared for, but that’s little consolation in the face of this crisis,” Engel said. “It is imperative we quickly work to undo this ghastly policy and reunite these kids with their parents. That is why I have introduced The Central America Family Protection and Reunification Act, a bill that will facilitate family reunification in the short term while addressing the longer-term challenges facing our friends in Central America.

“Facilities like Children’s Village are doing the best they can, but the Administration has a moral obligation to fix this outrageous problem which they themselves created.”
