Magnet, Pre-K Open Houses Begin Next Week

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The time is here to enroll students into one of the City School District of New Rochelle’s three elementary school magnet programs or the universal prekindergarten program. The first of three open houses is set for next week. Here’s the schedule:

Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 6:30 p.m.: Henry Barnard Early Childhood Center, 129 Barnard Road. Prekindergarten through second grade. Learn about the magnet and universal prekindergarten program.

Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 6 p.m.: Columbus Elementary School, 275 Washington Ave. The K-5 school offers a science-math-technology magnet program.

Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m.: Daniel Webster Magnet School, 95 Glenmore Drive. The K-5 school offers a humanities-arts magnet program. Kindergarten through fifth grade.

Applications will be available at the evening Open Houses. They can also be obtained at the magnet office on the second floor of City Hall, 515 North Ave. They will be available Jan. 10 through 26 for Barnard, and Feb. 8 through 26 for Columbus and Webster.

Applications must be returned in person to the magnet office. For Barnard, the deadline is 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26. For Columbus and Webster, the deadline is 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 26.

Lotteries for acceptance will be on Thursday, Feb. 1 for the Barnard magnet program, Tuesday Feb. 6 for the Barnard universal prekindergarten program and Thursday, March 8 for the Columbus and Webster magnet programs. All lotteries begin at 1 p.m. in the Board of Education meeting room on the second floor of City Hall, at 515 North Ave.
