NEW ROCHELLE, NY --  Jose F. Olmos-Torres appeared today in the City Court of New Rochelle for a felony hearing on a charge of Second Degree Murder in the death of Nurten Seljuk.

Seljuk’s body was found last Friday covered in trash laying in the driveway of the New Rochelle Armory. Her skull was caved in according to police sources.

David Rich of Legal Aide Society, representing Olmos-Torres, withdrew the prior request for a felony hearing and waived the matter to a Grand Jury.

The case was adjourned for all purposes until November 2nd.

Olmos-Torres is an illegal alien from Mexico who has one prior arrest in New Rochelle on an assault charge. According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Olmos-Torres, who is homeless, is in the country illegally after having been deported twice in 2009.

ICE placed a detainer with the New Rochelle City Police Department requesting the transfer of Olmos-Torres back into ICE custody following the adjudication of his criminal case and the completion of any corresponding jail sentences.
