NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Board of Education has announced several members of its recently established Culture and Climate Committee. Board member Lianne Merchant is the chairperson of the committee. Other members are:
John Barnes, Solutions to Suspensions Committee; Dierdra Grey Clark, Solutions to Suspensions Committee; Aisha Cook, elementary school teacher; Adam Etkin, Task Force on Reducing Violence in the Lives of Children and Youth; Robin Friedman, Task Force on Reducing Violence in the Lives of Children and Youth; Tim Kukulis, New Rochelle High School teacher; and Michelle Shapiro, New Rochelle High School teacher. When the membership is finalized, the committee will also include two New Rochelle High School administrators, a middle school administrator, a middle school teacher and an elementary school administrator.
This committee was established to review the recommendations of the Task Force on Reducing Violence in the Lives of Children and Youth and the security assessment of the District conducted by Guidepost Solutions. It will also look at the Code of Conduct and work done by the Solutions to Suspensions Committee.
