TINR “Prayer … What Does it All Mean?”

Written By: Talk of the Sound News

Have you ever wondered where our prayers come from? Have you sat in services unsure what you are reading or why you are reading it? It’s difficult to put together one prayer book that speaks to all Jews. Reform Judaism continues to grapple with questions such as:

What are prayers for? What sort of Being do they address? What should we pray for?

First Class on Monday, December 7, 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday/Sunday choices thereafter…

Please come join us as we meet once a month to
discuss how Jews have addressed topics including:
– What kind of a “Person” is God?
– Chosenness
– Reward and Punishment
– Gratitude/Blessings/Prayers for Well Being
– Prayers Throughout the Life Cycle
– Return to Zion and the Messianic Age

No knowledge of the prayer book is necessary, only a desire to participate in discussion and learn more about Jewish spirituality and Jewish practice. Each discussion will be held twice for your convenience: once on a weekday evening from 7:30-9 p.m. and once on a Sunday morning from 9:30-11 a.m.

The Sunday and weekday classes will deal with the same topic, and participants should feel free to attend either session. There will be a total of 6 classes to attend.

Discussions will be led by Bob Hirsh, Jason Morris,
Julie Rosenbluth, and Paul Warhit.

Please contact Paul Warhit at pwarhit@optonline.net or (914) 316-9742 with any questions or to reserve space in the cohort. There is no charge for this class, but space is limited. Please act today to reserve your spot.
