New Rochelle Teachers Consider Starting School Year Before Labor Day

A number of readers have asked about a rumor that the City School District of New Rochelle is considering a plan to start the school year earlier and add more holidays during the school year. The basis for this rumor is an online survey recently sent to teachers and other district employees by FUSE, the New Rochelle school union. In the survey, members were asked whether they would support or oppose starting the school year prior to Labor Day, starting with the 2015-16 school year.

Open Government Guru Coming to Lower Westchester

Robert Freeman, Executive Director of the New York State Committee on Open Government,  will conduct a forum on the Freedom of Information Law and Open Meetings Law in the Village of Mamaroneck on Wednesday, February 18th form 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The forum will be held in the Mamaroneck Village Court Room at 169 Mount Pleasant Avenue, in Mamaroneck, NY. Freeman has received numerous awards and travels the globe speaking on government transparency and accountability.
